professorial

one of my favorite things about university is dressing like i'm an old-school academic type: blazers, scarves, and dorky shoes are the way to go.

i'm wearing my mom's blazer and shoes, a shirt a friend left behind when she graduated, miss sixty jeans, a ripoff burberry scarf, and a seconhand cardigan.

red & orange. fabulous blazer lining and forever 21 junk ring.

sweatshirt and combats

here is tinny, photographed by lionfro (and here's their supergorgeous, very silly blog), wearing what i believe to be lionfro's green combats and a crazy sweatshirt. the look is comfy and zany. plus, tinny models!

pink rainy day

dressed for a rainy day, from february or maybe early march:

two pairs of tights to brave the cold, of course.

here are my earrings...they are little wolves. every female science teacher i've ever had wore things like this. good stuff.

tea party 5

nicole, 17, previously featured.
nicole also wore two extremely different outfits to an afternoon and an evening party on the same day.
i love the proportion, print, and gauzy material of the dress. the heels are patent purple leather and higher than i'd ever wear out, so instant respect to nicole for wearing them well.

here is her comfier night outfit. skinny jeans are so common now that it is refreshing to see well-fitting wide-legged pants.

sharp with kicks

erin, 19, previously featured, near dupont circle.
erin keeps it simple. it's still weirdly warm here in dc, so she's taking advantage of her coatlessness with a hoodie and velvet blazer. her shoes are excellently multicolored.

grey layers

nicole, 16, at a washington, dc house party.
this is layering at its finest, plus i am a huge fan of grey. nicole looks comfortable too.

yellow shades at night? a must.

orange skinnies, flight jacket, blue stripes

candice, 19, at university.
it takes guts to pull off these colors together but it looks great. plus the hat! and the moccasins!

meghan, 18, at university.
the jacket and scarf are aviatoresque, plus dark nails and a leopard headband. moderate cold outside should mean layering like this, not wearing enormous parkas all the time.

zeke, 18, at university.
zeke is an enormous threadless fan so he is of course wearing a threadless t-shirt. there are a lot of patterns going on here but they are all in the same area of blue and are a success.

symphony

ann, 21; norma, 20; and lizzie, 19, all previously featured, outside a university symphony concert.
they are all really well pulled together. i especially like the shoes. people don't dress up enough so it's refreshing to decide to get spiffy even for a not-so-formal event.

black and red work well together and are not overly serious here. the coat is prime for fall.

i love ann's leather bow belt. also, the proportions are great--her pants are just a little pegged and the shirt is nice and long.

this is me. as you can see, i'm a fan of layers. fall is the best "outfit weather."
